The Detroit Pistons welcome the Knicks in Little Caesars Arena. This is an imperative matchup for both sides. The two organizations are seen as the best two in the East while both navigating significant injury problems. Tipoff will be at 7pm EST and streaming on Peacock.

The New York Knicks are hot. They’re feeding into the preseason expectations: sitting right underneath the first seeded Pistons. The Knicks superstar player, Jalen Brunson is the  offensive engine of New York with Karl-Anthony Towns feeding off his gravity. New York is looking to break a three-game losing streak to a top five team in the league. The Detroit Pistons on the other hand, are currently at the top of the Eastern conference with a 26-9  record and at least three games above every other team in the East and are coming off a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. With Cade Cunningham, the face of the Pistons, carrying the offensive load, combined with elite all-around defense, toughness, and energy makes them one of the hardest teams in the NBA to beat.

The Pistons are coming into the game without two of their starters and one of their most  important bench players: Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren, and Caris LeVert. Losing the three will place more pressure on the frontcourt, as they lose two of their best, most physical scorers and a three-point shooter. Even with three players down, the Pistons remain to be betting  favorites at home, likely because of Cade Cunningham’s offensive prowess.

The key matchup for tonight will be Brunson versus Cunningham. Both being high-scoring threats and strong playmakers. Bettors are putting faith in Cunningham to put the Pistons over the top versus New York, hopefully reaching the 30-point mark.

New York will also walk into the Little Caesars missing two vital role players: Landry Shamet and Josh Hart. The absence of the two will put their rebounding and perimeter defense to the test. These happen to be the same two things the Pistons have been thriving on this year.

Experienced professional bettors are backing the Knicks to win tonight’s competition by at least three points with a -2.5 spread. For the bettors that place on player props, Knicks guard Miles McBride needs to be a spark off the bench as well as being the perimeter defender that New York is missing. Bettors expect McBride to have over 11 points this  game.

Opinions are still split in the betting world, but one thing is for certain. Tonight’s  competition is projected to be a competitive game. This may give us a look at who will be in  the Finals, against the OKC Thunder who are the favorites to go back-to-back this year. Tonight’s matchup may create a key rivalry in the East for years to come.
